As a Non-Profit credit counseling organization, the Agency provides professional, meaningful, and confidential consumer education and budget/credit counseling and develops effective debt management programs for all segments of the community that we serve. The Agency educates consumers about wise money management and the responsible use of credit.

History of Organization:

As a certified non-profit credit counseling organization incorporated in 1968, Advantage Credit Counseling Service educates consumers about wise debt management and the responsible use of credit through an effective debt management program. The agency enlightens and assists thousands of people each year through free, confidential credit counseling, debt management, and various community education presentations. The non-profit credit counseling services and debt management program of Advantage enhance clients’ lives, their family stability, and the community.

The agency provides private, confidential budget, credit counseling and also provides a special debt management program. The debt management program enables clients to repay millions of dollars a year to their creditors often saving them thousands of dollars in interest. Once on the debt management program, most creditors will waive existing late and over limit fees as well as discontinue the overwhelming number of collection calls.

Options: Accreditations and Licenses

We are accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and are members of the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Advantage Credit Counseling has been designated a certified comprehensive housing counseling agency by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The agency is also a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), the umbrella association for over 150 credit counseling agencies nationwide.

Advantage CCS is approved by the Executive Office of the United States Trustees (EOUST) to provide the required pre-filing counseling and pre-discharge bankruptcy education class, as well as issue bankruptcy certificates for both services.

Service Description

  • The agency provides counseling and education classes regarding budgeting and the wise use of credit. When appropriate, the agency negotiates payment arrangements with unsecured creditors for consumers who are delinquent with their creditor accounts. In turn, many creditors offer concessions to their customers such as stopping late fees, ending collection activity, and reducing the annual interest rate. The agency also provides housing counseling for consumers applying to the Homeowner's Mortgage Assistance Program and pre-purchase counseling for first-time home buyers.
