Reflecting on the Journey: Self Care for Helping Professionals (Part 1)

FreeWorkshop Synopsis:
Helping professionals are often encouraged to practice self-care and trauma stewardship. In this experiential workshop, participants will explore the neurobiology of trauma and the power of mindful activity, for self as well as clients. Expressive arts and journaling processes will help participants explore their needs in the areas of heart, mind, body, spirit and community. Participants will be encouraged to create a personal plan for self-care.
Workshop Objectives:
Participants will :
- understand how long-term exposure to trauma impacts them, from a neurobiological perspective; often resulting in compassion fatigue.
- learn how mindfulness practices address the overstressed parasympathetic nervous system and provide a path towards returned balance.
- explore expressive processes know to facilitate mindful responses.
- create a personal plan for trauma stewardship, using expressive arts and journaling processes.
