Vision, Mission and/or Purpose of Organization
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, rooted in the GOSPEL and SOCIAL TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH, is the primary social service agency of the Diocese. Our mission is to serve with excellence, professionalism, integrity and compassion, the human needs of individuals and families, regardless of their religious affiliation, and to provide leadership in mobilizing the resources of parishes and the wider community in addressing these needs.

History of Organization
Each and every day, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh extends the light of Christ to individuals and families in need with programs that provide help in the present and hope for a better future. In 1910, our outreach began by addressing the needs of struggling immigrant families who came to our region from various parts of Europe. Many were homeless, hungry and alone. Catholic Charities helped those families with food, clothing, shelter, and the skills necessary to begin a new life. Today, we proudly continue those efforts in the Catholic tradition with compassionate service that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and builds better communities. With offices in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence and Washington counties, our services include basic needs and safety net services, health care for the uninsured, homeless services, refugee resettlement, and support for youth, families and the elderly.

• Catholic Charities offers pregnancy and parenting programs for childbirth, parenting and life skills education, and Women-In-Need (free diapers & baby supplies for children up to 12 months of age). They also provide adoption and foster care, counseling for adults/adolescents, couples and families, psycho-education support groups (Transparenting-Children Cope with Divorce, domestic violence, self esteem, child abuse treatment and a Prevention group for adult perpetrators of child abuse, post-abortion healing groups, and grief support). They also offer living assistance through Fema-Housing Assistance, Duquesne Light CAP, and Columbia Gas CAP, emergency relief & tangible assistance, workshops, trainings, & community education.

Determined by Program requirement & Sliding fee scale

Vary according to program and funding sources used.

Some programs such as Dollar Energy and HPRP have need for documentation
