Lifesteps Vision is to improve the quality of life for members of our communities.

Lifesteps' Mission is to help individuals and families with life's changing needs by developing programs and providing services which will improve their quality of life.

History of Organization:

Since 1923, Lifesteps has provided care along life's journey by helping individuals and families with life's changing needs reach their best potential.

Today, Lifesteps offers many services including:

Child Care, Preschool and a Summer Discovery Program through Lifesteps Early Education Center;

Early Head Start Services

FREE Preschool through Pre-K Counts - a state sponsored program that offers FREE preschool for qualifying families; FREE Developmental/Autism Screenings through Child Check;

Speech Therapy;

Crisis Child Care;

a Family Resource Coordinator through the Beaver County Early Intervention/Crisis Intervention Program;

and, services for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities including a day program, Speech and Behavioral Support Services, Life Sharing and Community Homes.

Options: Accreditations and Licenses

The Agency is licensed to provide services and has met all requirements of the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Public Welfare's Office of Developmental Programming, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and Child Care Information Services (Subsidized Child Care).

All programs are subject to regular internal and external evaluations to insure the quality of Lifesteps' programs and services.

In addition, Lifesteps participates in the Pennsylvania Keystone Stars program, a rating system based on a child care facility's classroom environment, curriculum, and staffing. Lifesteps is also an approved site to receive business sponsored donations through the PA Educational Improvement Tax credit program that supports Preschool Scholarships for qualifying families.

Funding Sources

Many of the programs and services are not fully funded by government grants, contracts, etc. These programs are provided at a deficit and in order to continuing providing service to the community, Lifesteps raises the necessary funds through special events such as our annual �Chip-In� Golf Classic or Star Gala, community-sponsored events such as Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, annual giving campaigns, grant opportunities, civic group support and other fundraising efforts.

Regardless of whether the money comes from grants, contracts, program fees or individual donations, Lifesteps holds a strong committment to its fiduciary responsibility to support the individuals and families the organization serves every year.
