Supportive Services, Inc.
Options: Vision, Mission and/or Purpose of OrganizationSupportive Services Inc. is a non-profit organization serving the mental health needs of the residents of Beaver County, PA since 1978. Supportive Services/Harbor Point Housing is licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare and is funded through a variety of funding sources: Beaver County Behavioral Health, H.U.D., Health Choices and Community Development of Beaver County. We are devoted to the provision of a safe, comfortable, therapeutic and progressive living environment for our residents.
Supportive Services started as a Community Residential Rehabilitation provider in 1978. Over the years it has expanded its services by developing other programs to meet the needs of the population it serves. The emphasis of the agency’s programs is on flexibility. Supportive Service, Inc. is acutely aware that different residents have different needs and desires. We recognize the need to adapt our programs to meet the needs of those individuals who have co-occurring disorders. Specialized facilities have been designed to meet the varying physical, psychological, and co-occurring disorder requirements of agency residents, depending on their situation and progress. The central goal of the agency is to provide a positive living situation for care and recovery in the least restrictive environment possible.
Supportive Services strives to place referrals in the most appropriate setting for the residents’ needs. Placement at Supportive Services should not be considered to be permanent placements. It is the objective of the agency to help individuals develop their daily living skills so they can become empowered to live in the community and eventually obtain permanent housing. It is understood that some residents may be with the agency in a variety of programs over a number of years but that is still not considered a permanent placement.
The supervisor/director of each unit will do individual planning with each resident based on his/her needs and input. The goal planning is resident driven. It puts emphasis in the ability of each individual to grow, change, and have a life that is rich and rewarding with or without the presence of symptoms. We realize the goal planning will require constant review of the resident’s programs, case management, and personal interests. The agency will provide daily living skills training with each resident on an individual basis based on their skill level, their level of independence, and their chosen goals.
All Supportive Services, Inc./Harbor Point Housing staff hold their Act 33/34 clearances, a valid driver’s license, and specific training/certification in CPR, First Aid, Fire Safety, Crisis Intervention/Prevention, Medication Administration and other relevant trainings to their position. We have a full-time LPN (employed with the agency over 18 years). We are also staffed with an outstanding Quality Assurance Team that reviews resident records, medication charts, building safety, etc. for accuracy and compliance. The nursing staff and Quality Assurance Team are on-call 24/7, 365 days of the year for any emergencies that may arise.
We are dedicated to providing a quality of life that fosters independence and ensures the residents’ freedom and dignity as individuals in the community. Please click on the tabs of our different units within the agency to view and print out brochures with further explanation of our services.
