Diversity Round Table Discussion

April 11, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Franklin Center of Beaver County is sponsoring a series of community round table discussions that are intended to
heighten the awareness of the future of Beaver County.  The first “Sip ‘n Say” will focus on the topic of diversity in business.

Business owners and community members are invited to attend the first open community round table discussion with Dr. Donald E. Sheffield to discuss the importance of diversity in the workplace. Dr. Sheffield has a wealth of knowledge on this topic and he welcomes and enjoys a lively discussion. Please join to listen, learn and offer insights on this controversial subject.

The discussion will take place on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Franklin Center’s Broadcast Street Café
located at 464 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa, PA 15001. The time is 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. There is no charge to attend this event.

Diversity in the workplace brings with it a host of potential benefits, as well as potential conflicts for business owners to manage. Cultural competence can be a critical piece of a diversity and inclusion platform because employees,
suppliers and markets are more global than in the past. Cultural competence can help employees from different cultures see scenarios from multiple perspectives and encourages them to ask the right questions. The rewards are increased productivity, innovation and sales.
